Our mission of  helping older people thrive in the age of no retirement seems to resonate massively. It’s time to unlock the amazing, overlooked value in our older workforce.

The exciting thing is there is so much to do. So many ways to engage with partners, educators, individuals and organisations to empower older workers. We are totally up for it.

Right now we’re focussing on  upskilling, rebooting, reskilling, and inspiration for people over 50 who want to, need to, love to work.

Because, for all sorts of reasons, currently older people are underemployed, undervalued, demotivated and wasted.

But you don’t have to be over 50 to like what we are doing and get involved. At the Silver Academy are not ‘youthist.’ Re-engaging our older workforce will be good for everyone…

THREE ‘IN PERSON’ COURSES

We’re starting with three ‘in person’ courses.

They are all in partnership with best in-class training organisations and trainers.

Each course will provide a unique ‘Silver’ perspective on what we see as being game changing, and vital areas for our followers.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. MENTORING. ENTREPRENEURSHIP

 We wanted to start with ‘in person’ courses because we believe there is nothing like ‘in person.’

The environment, intensity and camaraderie of a buzzing classroom has no substitute.

We will be doing on- line too. Obviously. But not at first. And all our ‘in person’ courses come with on-line follow up.

 AI FOR THE WISE

Our first course, ‘AI for the wise’ will be on November 15^th at WeWork in London, Waterloo.

It is in partnership with  General Purpose, who are leading the field in ‘in person’ AI training.

We’ve been on General Purpose courses and they are amazing.  Informative. Interactive. Fun. And with on-going community follow up.

MENTORING FOR EVERYONE’S PROFIT

 At The Silver Academy we believe the ‘triple bottom line’ value of organised mentoring is being massively overlooked in our workplaces.

Obviously, older people are well positioned to make very fine mentors. Mentoring is a fantastic way to unlock the real value of older employees. And potentially a new career in itself.

Mentoring for everyone’s profit will be led by IPA award winning coach Alan Meade.

This in person course will teach how to be a great mentor,  and explore how to champion a culture of mentoring in the organisation you work for.

If you are a silver freelancer, or consultant, it will explore how to get yourself launched as a mentor.

Mentoring for everyone’s profit will be held at a central London venue on the 23rd of January 2025.

SILVER ENTREPRENEURS DO IT BETTER

According to Harvard Business School  (and many others) silver entrepreneurs are considerably more likely to succeed than their juniors. So let’s back the winners.

Our third ‘in person’ course will be in February 2025 in London. It will be for anyone who is starting off, or considering starting off, as a silver entrepreneur.

The course will be led by Neil Quick. Award winning trainer, recovering ad-man, and entrepreneur himself. (Check out the business he founded Charlie Ovens.)

In this one day long course, you will explore both the practical and psychological aspects of becoming a successful silver entrepreneur.

It will take away the fear, and replace if with ‘Screw It Lets Do It’ positivism. (Thanks Richard.)

And of course, when you go on our silver entrepreneurs course there will be follow up. You will not be alone!
